When the UK based DIRK Group embarked on the venture to change Indian Fly Ash waste in to a certified partial cement replacement it had to face several challenges. The most important one was to convince the Indian construction fraternity that DIRK was providing a quality assured product branded as POZZOCRETE which improved the concrete, reduced CO2 emissions and most important, reduced the concrete cost by 20%. For this, DIRK India had already built the first Indian Fly Ash processing plant. It was a stroke of luck that I met Mukund Joshi on some of the large infrastructure projects in Mumbai where I could see his practical expertise under difficult site scenarios. I was in need for such a person and employed Mukund as Director in the year 2001. In a very short period his talent to transfer the technical know-how of DIRK India Private Limited to the benefit of the Indian construction industry was showing. Consequently he became Director of the Maharashtra Fly Ash Information center which organized training courses for hundreds of construction engineers, architects and research scientists. Most important, he never lost sight of practical and economical aspects. During many years his knowledge and expertise was growing while serving the industry and solving their problems.
